Nice to meet you..

While my shower habits persisted and the cost of soap continued to rise, I became motivated to solve this problem. Maybe my desire for long showers wasn’t unique. Maybe other people are looking for a way to add a refreshing, exfoliating, and economical solution to add to their daily personal care routine. Maybe through it all there was a way to have a positive impact on hygiene insecurity.

For most of my professional career, I have had the incredible opportunity to care for people, as a registered nurse. A trademark of this dynamic profession is critical thinking and problem solving. Simply put, our family had a problem. My shower habits. It’s not what you think, I promise. I have a slight affinity for LONG, refreshing, exfoliating showers, which was undoubtedly exacerbated by attempting to maintain vigilant while working through the pandemic. However, efficiency is the name of the game most days with two toddlers.

What if there was a way to get an excellent exfoliation, while saving on body wash and water? This question really started for me in 2016, while I was of course taking a shower. Like most of us when we get a wouldn’t that be cool idea, we tend to leave it at that, as I did for years. There were a couple experiences between 2022-2024 that accelerated my passion to attempt to produce a tangible solution. The first being living in Sarasota County, Florida during Hurricane Ian and the second was enrolling in business school. We were very fortunate to have minimal impact from the storm; however, it gave us a crash course in resource allocation, that we luckily had not experienced to that level at that point in our lives. Underlying this experience was the realization that this was part of millions of individuals daily reality.  As things returned to normal that problem was filed away in the back of my mind.

A year later, I chose to enroll in an MBA program for what was my planned progression up the corporate ladder in healthcare. Increasingly throughout the program, I felt a pull to start something of my own. Maybe we could create consumer products that would help those struggling to afford personal hygiene basics. This led to the founding of Obbi.
